The GPS Interface on the CloudBox provides real-time location information, as well as a history of the last known GPS data. This interface is essential for events that require geographic tracking or precise location data, such as marathons, triathlons, and cycling races. The interface allows you to monitor the current GPS status, view location on Google Maps, and access detailed geographic information such as latitude, longitude, altitude, and speed.
In this article, we’ll explore the features of the GPS Interface and what each section provides.
GPS Status:
The GPS Status section displays the current GPS state, indicating whether the system has successfully acquired its location.
Current Status: In this example, the status is SYSTEM_LOCATED
, meaning that the CloudBox has successfully locked onto GPS signals and identified its current position.
Message: Provides additional details about the GPS status, in this case, provides a direct link to the CloudBox’s current location on Google Maps.
Last Known Information:
This section provides details about the last known GPS sync, including:
Last Sync: The timestamp of the most recent GPS location update.
Google Maps Link: A clickable link to view the last known location on Google Maps.
Latitude and Longitude: The exact GPS coordinates of the CloudBox's last known position.
GPS Timezone: The timezone of the GPS location, which is useful for ensuring that the system is synchronized with the correct time zone.
Altitude: The elevation of the CloudBox at the time of the last sync, displayed in meters.
Speed: The speed of the CloudBox (in kilometers per hour) at the time of the last sync. If stationary, this will show as 0 km/h
.
Real-Time GPS Status:
The Current Status field shows whether the GPS module is actively tracking the CloudBox’s location. If GPS is unable to acquire a signal, the status will indicate that the system is still searching.
When the GPS module successfully locks onto satellite signals, the interface displays SYSTEM_LOCATED
, confirming that the CloudBox’s location is being actively tracked.
View Location in Google Maps:
By clicking the Google Maps link, you can view the CloudBox’s exact location on Google Maps. This feature is useful for tracking mobile events where the CloudBox may move between locations, such as point-to-point races or geographically distributed timing stations.
Accessing Historical GPS Data:
The Last Known Information section provides detailed geographic data from the last GPS sync. This data includes the precise location (latitude and longitude), elevation (altitude), and movement speed at the time of the last sync.
The GPS Interface in the CloudBox offers critical location tracking capabilities for mobile and geographically distributed events. With real-time GPS status updates, detailed geographic information, and direct integration with Google Maps, this interface ensures that race organizers can monitor the CloudBox’s location throughout the event
