The RUFUS Timing App features an intuitive and user-friendly interface designed to help you efficiently manage timing sessions for race events. This guide will walk you through the main components of the app to ensure you can quickly understand and make the most of its capabilities.
Sessions: This is where you can start new timing sessions or manage ongoing ones. The Sessions view displays a list of available sessions, allowing you to start a new session by clicking the + button at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Archive: Access your previously saved timing sessions here. The Archive view contains all saved sessions .csv files.
Help & Sharing: The main menu also includes options to access Help, Share RUFUS, or Send to a Friend, making it easier to share information and get support.
Creating a New Timing Session: Navigate to the Sessions view and click on the + button. Enter a filename for the new session (e.g., "finishline.csv") and press OK. This will initiate a new timing session.
Session Stats: Below the session filename, you'll be able to see the number of passings the session has and the elapsed time since last passing.
Accessing Data: Click on an entry to review the recorded data, or make a long press to share the .csv file via compatible apps like WhatsApp or email for further analysis.
The Archive view displays a list of past timing sessions saved as .csv files. Each entry includes information like the number of passings recorded and the time since it was last updated.
Accessing Archived Data: Click on an entry to review the recorded data, or make a long tap to share the .csv file via compatible apps like WhatsApp or email for further analysis.
The Settings menu is accessible from the main interface and contains several key features for configuring your timing experience.
Location: Toggle the option to enable or disable GPS location data for passings sent to the cloud. This helps in providing more detailed information regarding where each passing occurred.
Autosave: Enable or disable the autosave feature for your local timing session file. You can also set the Autosave Interval, which determines how often your session is automatically saved (e.g., every 2 minutes).
RFID Zapper: Configure settings for the connected RFID reader. The RFID Zapper menu includes options to detect various RFID tag formats, including RUFUS Tags, RUFUS FREE, or custom formats. You can also adjust settings like EPC length, EPC value, and Bounce Time to filter chip readings and ensure optimal performance.
If you are using the app with an RFID sled, you can customize the detection preferences:
Compatible Tag Formats: Choose from RUFUS Tags, RUFUS FREE tags, or define a custom format that suits your specific event requirements.
Bounce Time: Set the default bounce time to avoid duplicate readings from a single participant.
Recording Passings: During a timing session, enter the bib number into the input field on the timing screen. The screen also displays the list of recent passings, providing a clear overview of times recorded.
Visual Cues: The screen layout makes it easy to view both the current time and previously entered bib numbers, helping to reduce errors during fast-paced race environments.
The RUFUS Timing App's interface has been designed for simplicity and ease of use, enabling you to focus on accurately recording race timings and managing participant data. Explore each feature to get the most out of your timing experience.
